My 3-dimensional stained glass sculpture, "Pteropod: Limacina helicina" will be on display at the Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery from Oct. 19 - Dec. 7, 2013 as part of "Gathering: Contemporary Glass from the Heartland". If you find yourself in Indiana during those two months, come by and check out all sorts of glass work!
My former marine biology teacher and friend, Michele Hoffman Trotter, is filming a documentary on microorganisms found in the ocean. She interviewed me for the documentary as an artist who finds inspiration in ocean life. My glass sculpture "Pteropod: Limacina helicina" is featured in the documentary as it is based on a real-life microorganism. The filming started this year so it won't be available for a while, but you can follow the progress of the film and check out a trailer and more information at www.microcosmfilm.com.
In the meantime, come support the film at our fundraiser: Microcosm: An Evening of Art & Inquiry. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Columbia College of Chicago, 618 S. Michigan Ave., 2nd floor. There will be a raffle with amazing prizes, a silent art auction and speakers about the film. Come grab a bite to eat and have a cocktail on us while you support the film!
My stained glass sculpture, Pteropod: Limacina helicina, has just won first place in the sculpture category of Delphi Glass's Online Art Glass Festival, 2013. You can see the winning entries here: www.delphiglass.com/gallery/agf_winners
